Position

Family Lawyer/Civil Litigation

Key Responsibilities
  • Independently manage family law and civil litigation files, ensuring timely and effective resolution.
  • Handle a wide range of family law matters, including separation agreements, spousal maintenance, and asset division, with a focus on delivering exceptional results.
  • Conduct hearings, discoveries, mediations, and trials, utilizing strong communication and negotiation skills.
  • Instruct support staff and receive instructions from clients, fostering a collaborative and client-centric approach.
  • Draft pleadings and speak to chamber applications, demonstrating expertise in civil litigation and family law.
  • Negotiate at mediations and appear at trials, leveraging strong judgment and interpersonal skills.
  • Manage all aspects of a file from beginning to end, ensuring seamless execution and client satisfaction.
  • Experience in general civil litigation is an asset, providing a competitive edge in this role.
Requirements
  • One to three years of current experience in British Columbia family law and/or civil litigation practice, with a strong track record of success.
  • Ability to handle challenging work and manage files independently, with a focus on delivering high-quality results.
  • Strong judgment, work ethic, and interpersonal skills, with a passion for growing a practice and working towards partnership.
  • Desire to become part of the community served, with a commitment to making a positive impact.

Compensation
  • Base salary: $70,000 – $90,000, depending on the year of call and experience, with opportunities for growth and advancement.
