Role Overview
The ideal candidate for the process engineering position will play a pivotal role in our Wastewater Intensification processes division. This role is integral to the Applications & Systems (A&S) team based in Canada, specifically in Oakville, ON (location is negotiable). Contribute to the future of wastewater treatment solutions by innovating next-generation intensification processes centered around Veolia's core technologies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Drive global implementation and market entry of our innovations by leveraging the latest advancements from the Technology team. This includes contributing to process evaluations, designs, technology validation, and preliminary proposals for our new generation of wastewater intensification processes, including MBR (ZeeWeedTM) and MABR (ZeeLungTM) technologies such as zeeDENSETM, memDENSETM, and ZeeNAMMOXTM.
- Oversee the follow-up of Premieres references and lead REX in collaboration with Technology team scientists and R&D Program/Project Leads. Validate and consolidate data from our innovation references for end-users (O&M), process engineers, and consultants concerning new generations of wastewater intensification processes.
- Assist in the creation of new wastewater intensification solutions leveraging Veolia's core water technologies to initiate new research programs (bio-processes, flowsheets, applications, products) while creating opportunities to lead new R&D initiatives.
- Collaborate closely with Incubation groups and Commercial Engineering teams to ensure the delivery of high-quality proposals.
- Promote awareness of innovative biological technologies by presenting at industry conferences (in collaboration with team members from Technology, Incubation, and regional teams) and engaging with stakeholders and strategic practitioners in the water treatment sector.
- Demonstrated management and leadership experience is essential, with the potential to oversee a small team of engineers in the near future.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
A Bachelor's Degree in engineering, focusing on Water, Environmental Sciences, or related fields is required. An advanced degree (Master's or PhD) is preferred.
A minimum of 8 years of experience in wastewater treatment process design or related areas is necessary. Experience in proposal development is advantageous.
Proven experience as a process engineer, specializing in the design of wastewater projects and water treatment processes is essential.
Additional Skills and Experience
- A strong track record of projects in wastewater process design and engineering from a water industry entity (consultancy, process integrator, technology provider, etc.).
- Familiarity with WWTP process designs, engineering, commissioning, and operation (MABR, MBR, aerobic granular sludge, MBBR/IFAS, biofilm-based, anammox, micropollutants, reuse, etc.).
- Experience with biological process simulators, such as BioWin, SIMBA, SUMO, and/or GPS-X.
- Ability to work autonomously while being a collaborative team player.
- Strong customer orientation.
- Proficient in English with excellent technical communication skills (French is a plus).

Working Conditions
A hybrid work schedule may be available based on the candidate's profile and experience.
The role may require up to 20% travel to customer sites and conferences, adjustable according to company needs and the candidate's circumstances, with home office arrangements as per VWTS Canada policy (2 days/week).
