Job Summary

The Pharmacy Assistant plays a vital role in supporting the Pharmacist in the technical aspects of prescription filling and administrative duties. This position requires a team player who can provide exceptional customer service and participate in all aspects of Pharmacy Operations.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Prescription Processing: Receive prescriptions from patients, ensuring completeness and accuracy, and prioritize prescriptions according to established guidelines.
  2. Computer Functions: Perform data entry, price checks, patient information updates, and competent interpretation and processing of written prescriptions, including Latin abbreviations and dosage calculations.
  3. Prescription Filling: Fill prescriptions under the supervision of the Pharmacist, selecting appropriate products, performing accuracy checks, and labeling and organizing for pharmacist checking.
  4. Inventory Control: Maintain inventory levels, assist in ordering drugs and supplies, and ensure accurate storage and rotation of stock.
  5. General Housekeeping: Maintain a clean and organized work environment, including stocking supplies, cleaning equipment, and performing administrative tasks.
  6. Clerical Organization: File prescriptions, invoices, reports, and correspondence, and complete administrative support functions as assigned.
  7. OTC Operations: Assist with over-the-counter operations, including ordering, stocking, and cashier duties as assigned.
