Job Summary

The Pharmacy Assistant plays a vital role in supporting the Pharmacist in the technical aspects of prescription filling and administrative duties. This position requires a team player who can participate in all aspects of Pharmacy Operations.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Receive prescriptions from patients, ensuring compliance with provincial legal and regulatory conditions, and assess prescriptions for completeness.
  2. Perform computer functions as directed by the Pharmacist, including data entry, price checks, patient information entry, and interpretation of written prescriptions.
  3. Fulfill prescriptions under the Pharmacist's supervision, selecting appropriate products, performing accuracy checks, and labeling and organizing for pharmacist checking.
  4. Maintain inventory control, assist the Pharmacist in maintaining stock levels, and perform tasks such as checking for expired medications and ordering supplies.
  5. Contribute to general housekeeping, stocking prescription filling supplies, and maintaining a clean and organized work environment.
  6. Assist with OTC operations, ordering, stocking, and cashier duties as assigned by the OTC Manager and/or Pharmacist.
