Job Title: Finishing System Designer / Project Manager

At Express Employment Professionals - Cambridge, we are seeking a highly skilled Finishing System Designer / Project Manager to join our team.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and managing the implementation of finishing systems, collaborating closely with Sales, Service teams, and external partners. This role involves overseeing complete job sites, providing after-sales support for commissioned systems, and ensuring that projects meet technical specifications, budgetary constraints, and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • System Design & Documentation:
  • Develop technical specifications and bills of materials using CAD/SolidWorks (2D/3D) for Client's end-user applications.
  • Conduct on-site visits to gather application-specific knowledge and ensure accurate system design.

  • Project Management:
  • Work with Sales/Service teams and suppliers to create budgets and detailed cost estimates for project implementation.
  • Ensure all project requirements (e.g., TSSA, ESA, PSHR) are met and documented for each job.
  • Manage in-field project system/component installations, and start-ups, and troubleshoot installed systems as needed.
  • Act as the on-site manager, overseeing hired trades and ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget.

  • Technical & Market Support:
  • Provide technical consulting to sales and management teams to resolve product concerns and application issues.
  • Assist in finding new products, developing specifications, and addressing end-user product gaps.
  • Monitor and report on competitive activities during field operations, contributing to product and marketing strategies.
  • Offer technical and application support to client's staff, outside contractors, and end users.
  • Assemble and distribute system manuals (electronic) per job.

Requirements:

  • Proficient in designing large industrial equipment and systems using CAD/SolidWorks (2D essential, 3D beneficial).
  • Field experience in industrial environments, including installation/service of related equipment lines.
  • Experience managing contractors in the field.

Education & Certifications:

  • Certification in CAD and/or SolidWorks (2D/3D).
  • Additional certifications in General Millwright, Electrical, or HVAC are an asset.
  • Mechanical Engineer or Engineering Tech qualifications are an asset.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to travel intermittently overnight to job sites across North America.
  • Capable of working hands-on in the field, lifting over 50 lbs regularly, and working at heights.
  • Comfortable working in industrial environments with potential exposure to extreme temperatures, dust, etc.
