Overview:

Axis Family Resources Ltd. is seeking a Full Time Family Support Counsellor to be part of our Family Based Intervention Program, dedicated to assisting families and individuals within family units. This role emphasizes working with family systems, focusing on trauma recovery, addressing disrupted attachments with children, and may involve group facilitation. Our aim is to empower families to stabilize and acquire practical skills for managing crises and overcoming abusive or neglectful circumstances. Counsellors will be responsible for creating, executing, and assessing family-centered intervention strategies, collaborating with the integrated case management team to develop comprehensive service plans. Establishing and nurturing healthy relationships with our clients through a trauma-informed approach is central to our mission. Essential qualities for success in this role include resilience, empathy, patience, and the ability to set and uphold healthy boundaries.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • A bachelor's degree in Social Work, Child & Youth Care, or a related Social Science field.
  • 1 – 2 years of experience in social services.
  • Education, training, or experience should demonstrate an ability to apply a variety of strategies to address issues such as child abuse/neglect, family violence, family-of-origin challenges, anger management, communication difficulties, parenting issues, financial management struggles, mental or developmental challenges, intimacy, self-care, etc. (please detail relevant experience in the 'message to the employer' section during the application process).
  • Reliable transportation and a valid BC driver's license.
  • Knowledge of and experience working with complex trauma, Autism, FASD, ODD, or other neurobiological conditions is advantageous.
  • Clear Criminal Record Check (agency conducted, expenses covered).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
