Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Early Childhood Educator to join our team at Westside Japanese Language Society. As an Early Childhood Educator, you will play a vital role in designing and implementing child-care programs that promote the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development of children.

Key Responsibilities
  • Program Development: Design and implement child-care programs that cater to the diverse needs of children, ensuring a safe and nurturing environment that fosters growth and development.
  • Staff Supervision: Supervise and train staff, trainees, or volunteers to ensure they are equipped to provide high-quality care and education to children.
  • Activity Leadership: Lead activities that promote learning and development, such as storytelling, singing, and educational outings.
  • Child Guidance: Guide and assist children in developing essential life skills, including eating, dressing, and toilet habits.
  • Observation and Reporting: Observe children for signs of potential learning or behavioral problems and prepare reports for parents, guardians, or supervisors.
  • Staff Meetings: Participate in staff meetings to discuss progress and problems of children, ensuring a collaborative approach to child care and education.
  • Environment Maintenance: Plan and maintain an environment that protects the health, security, and well-being of children.
Requirements
  • Education: College/CEGEP diploma or equivalent in Early Childhood Education or a related field.
  • Experience: 5 years or more of experience in early childhood education or a related field.
  • Language: Bilingualism in English and Japanese is an asset.
  • Certifications: Early Childhood Education (ECE) Certificate and First Aid Certificate are required.
