Job Title: Residential Counsellor

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Residential Counsellor to join our team at the Society for Treatment of Autism (NS). As a Residential Counsellor, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in a group home setting.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide individualized support and care to clients with ASD, promoting their physical, emotional, and social well-being.
  • Develop and implement behaviour management programs to help clients manage their behaviours and achieve their goals.
  • Collaborate with other social services agencies and healthcare providers to ensure comprehensive support for clients.
  • Assist clients with daily living activities, such as housekeeping, food preparation, and personal care.
  • Supervise activities and provide guidance to clients, promoting their independence and self-advocacy.
  • Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge in supporting individuals with ASD.
Requirements:
  • College diploma or equivalent in a related field, such as social work, psychology, or disability studies.
  • Experience working with individuals with ASD, preferably in a group home setting.
  • Behaviour management certification and other relevant certifications (e.g., first aid, CPR, food safety).
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
