Emergency Nursing Specialty Program

Full-time training and practicum locations: Details to be provided
*Course dates may be adjusted based on prior courses completed; funding is available only for required courses.
Travel within the region is required during practicums (exact dates to be determined). Travel expenses will be reimbursed according to company policy.
Applicants must successfully complete the post-basic training education prior to working in the department.
Candidates accepting this training opportunity agree to remain with Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) as a regular status nurse in the relevant nursing area for at least 18 months following the completion of training.
This commitment ensures that candidates can consolidate and apply skills in the specialty area that VCH has supported and funded. Should a candidate leave the relevant nursing area or VCH within 18 months, VCH will seek to recover the cost of the program.

As a Registered Nurse, your responsibilities will include:
Delivering nursing care to patients/clients in the inpatient ward. Providing nursing care to primarily older residents in a continuing care environment. Offering emergency nursing care to patients/clients of all ages presenting with various symptoms. Enhancing quality of life from the perspective of the client/resident/patient and/or family. Consulting, conferring, and collaborating with other healthcare professionals. Demonstrating continuous improvement and best practices in your nursing practice. Exhibiting expertise and leadership in your nursing practice. Maintaining and advancing your clinical competence. Participating in designated committees/teams and approved research projects as assigned.ABOUT THE COMMUNITY
The community is located in a picturesque mountain valley, offering a unique environment with a small population. The local general hospital features acute care beds, long-term care beds, and a 24/7 emergency department, along with various health services.

As per current public health orders, all employees working for Vancouver Coastal Health must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 or have received a single dose of the most recent, updated COVID-19 vaccine. Proof of vaccination status will be required.
