We are seeking a dedicated Health & Safety Specialist to join our team. Reporting to the Infrastructure Health & Safety Manager, you will play a vital role in fostering a culture of safety and collaboration where employees actively participate in identifying and mitigating risks.

Responsibilities:
  • Educate workers on company safety policies, procedures, and essential safety standards.
  • Assist in developing and implementing safety procedures that comply with Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) Regulations.
  • Collaborate with project managers and supervisors to create site-specific Health & Safety plans and Job Hazard Assessments for safe project execution.
  • Support incident investigations by ensuring root causes are accurately identified and corrective actions are SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Time-bound).
  • Conduct regular site safety inspections to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety protocols.
  • Develop and deliver comprehensive OHS training programs and New Hire Orientations.
  • Maintain worker certifications, identify training gaps, and schedule appropriate safety courses.
  • Coordinate and manage respirator fit testing and hearing testing programs.
  • Track leading and lagging safety indicators, analyze trends, and communicate findings to relevant teams.
  • Provide ongoing support and guidance to the operations team on all Health & Safety matters.
  • Assist Joint Health & Safety Committees in their efforts to promote a safe and healthy work environment.
  • Participate in corporate safety audits (COR) to ensure compliance with industry standards.
  • Monitor regulatory developments in Health & Safety to stay informed about new or revised compliance obligations.
Qualifications:
  • 1+ year of Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) experience within the Construction or Oil & Gas industries.
  • Post-secondary education (degree or diploma) in health and safety, or equivalent education in a related field.
  • Proven ability to achieve results in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to create engaging presentations, reports, and facilitate group discussions.
  • Strong proficiency in MS Office Suite (particularly Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • Experience with third-party safety management and compliance reporting systems.
  • Valid and clean BC Driver's License.
