Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Health and Safety Advisor to join our team. Reporting to the Infrastructure Health & Safety Manager, the successful candidate will play a key role in fostering a collaborative and proactive health and safety culture within the organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement effective safety policies, procedures, and standards to ensure compliance with Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) Regulations.
  • Collaborate with project managers and supervisors to develop site-specific health and safety plans and job hazard assessments for safe project execution.
  • Conduct regular site safety inspections to identify and mitigate potential hazards.
  • Develop and deliver OHS training programs and new hire orientations to ensure employees have the necessary knowledge and skills to perform their jobs safely.
  • Monitor regulatory developments in health and safety and ensure the organization remains compliant with all relevant laws and regulations.
  • Provide support and assistance to the operations team for all HSE-related matters.
  • Assist in corporate safety audits (COR) to ensure the organization's health and safety management system is effective and efficient.

Requirements

  • 1+ year of experience in Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) in a construction or oil and gas environment.
  • Post-secondary education (degree or diploma) in health and safety or a related field.
  • Proven ability to achieve results in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to facilitate group discussions and presentations.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite, particularly Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with third-party safety management and compliance reporting systems.
  • Valid and clean BC Driver's License.

What We Offer

The successful candidate will be offered a permanent, full-time position with a competitive salary range of $70,000 - $80,000 per annum. The starting salary will be based on the candidate's competencies, including knowledge, skills, experience, and internal pay structures. As part of NorLand's total compensation package, this position is eligible for other benefits subject to program eligibility.
