Key Responsibilities:
  • Overseeing and managing evaluations for remedial options, upgrades to treatment systems, stormwater management, landfill closure strategies, and construction oversight.
  • Collaborating within a design team to develop remedial systems, in-situ chemical treatments for contaminated environments, barrier walls, upgrades to treatment facilities, and landfill cover solutions.
  • Conducting site visits to assess conditions, supervise personnel and contractors, and perform field engineering assessments.
  • Preparing and reviewing various reports, including monitoring reports, audit findings, technical documentation, design briefs, specifications, tender documents, and contracts. Involvement in project and budget management, ensuring adherence to schedules, deliverables, and staffing requirements.
  • Making informed decisions while considering innovative and cost-effective solutions for project challenges.
  • Drafting and evaluating work plans, project designs, technical reports, and contract specifications for both operational and capital improvement projects.
  • Managing contracts and ensuring compliance.
  • Engaging with clients, contractors, regulators, and other stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Acting as a project leader, fostering teamwork, collaboration, and efficiency, with support from senior engineers.
  • Providing supervision to engineers and technical staff, conducting peer reviews, and serving as a resource for guidance on various approaches and problem-solving scenarios.
  • Participating in the design, preparation, and approval of engineering drawings and specifications within the area of expertise.
  • Performing additional related duties as necessary.
Qualifications:
  • 5 to 8 years of relevant experience in the areas outlined in the responsibilities.
  • A Bachelor of Applied Science degree in Civil, Chemical, or Environmental Engineering.
  • Experience in environmental consulting or a related field.
  • A P. Eng. designation in British Columbia.
  • Ability to interpret and apply environmental engineering principles, regulations, and technical guidelines relevant to the specialty.
  • Proven capability to organize and prioritize project components for various project sizes, ensuring timely and accurate deliverables.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, along with a talent for engineering design and project management.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate within a multidisciplinary team to address complex and time-sensitive issues.
  • Capacity to work under broad direction from senior engineers, exercising independent judgment in problem-solving and evaluating options. Ability to identify project opportunities and challenges and escalate them appropriately.
  • Effective time management and prioritization skills.
  • Willingness to mentor and guide junior engineers and technical staff as needed.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and MS Project. A valid BC Class 5 Driver's license is required.
