Position Overview

As the Vice President of Treasury, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing Coast Capital's liquidity, funding, capital management, and investment portfolio. Your expertise will be crucial in maintaining financial stability, ensuring compliance with regulations, managing risks, and enhancing financial strategies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Participate in the strategic execution of corporate initiatives as a member of the Senior Operating Committee.
  • Define and steer the financial strategy of Coast Capital through effective treasury management, including asset/liability management, interest rate risk management, liquidity oversight, funding strategies, capital allocation, and foreign exchange activities.
  • Lead the Coast Capital Asset Liability Committee (ALCO) and the Capital and Liquidity Crisis Management Team (CMT), employing unique problem-solving skills to navigate complex financial challenges in a regulatory landscape.
  • Act as the representative of Coast Capital to external investors, capital markets, and credit rating agencies.
  • Oversee significant company-wide initiatives essential for the future growth of Coast Capital by diversifying capital and liquidity sources, collaborating with legal and advisory teams to implement innovative strategies in Canadian markets.
  • Foster relationships with Product, Distribution, and Marketing teams to create effective pricing strategies and support a robust balance sheet.
  • Collaborate with the risk management team to develop models that optimize the balance between profitability and interest rate exposure.
  • Provide strategic advice to the CFO, CRO, and board committees regarding market trends, potential risks, and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Manage and mitigate inherent and potential risks in the business by working closely with the three lines of defense to establish and enforce policies and procedures that ensure risk assurance.
  • Direct and enhance the capabilities of funding mechanisms that support growth and contingency planning through institutional and agency deposit channels.
  • Advocate for diversity and inclusion in all treasury functions and initiatives.

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • Preferred qualifications: CFA, CPA, or dual designations.
  • Experience: Over 10 years of relevant experience in treasury functions at a VP level within deposit-taking institutions.
  • Communication Skills: Exceptional public speaking, verbal, written communication, negotiation, and leadership abilities.
  • Leadership: A courageous, team-oriented leader who builds trust, fosters relationships, and mentors future leaders, committed to an inclusive workplace.
