As a key member of our Supply Chain department, you will be responsible for managing the procurement and inventory control functions to minimize costs without compromising quality, reliability of supply, and delivery time.
Key Responsibilities:- Oversee the organization's purchasing/procurement/inventory planning functions to minimize overall costs without compromising quality, reliability of supply, and delivery time.
- Manage vendor relationships and evaluate vendor performance to ensure compliance with quality standards and specifications.
- Proactively identify market trends and commodity impacts to anticipate potential risks to material, cost, and/or quality.
- Establish and maintain performance improvement measures for vendors.
- Collaborate with, mentor, and coach junior buyers to develop their skills and knowledge.
- Determine inventory selection, qualities, lead times, and maintain accurate inventory systems.
- Review costs and analyze forecasts for production planning with management.
- Initiate continuous improvement projects to reduce costs and improve quality.
- Ensure efficient management of inbound logistics and accuracy, quality, and specs of inventory.
- Bachelor's degree in business or supply chain/procurement is preferred.
- APICS certification would be an asset.
- Minimum 7 years' experience in supply chain/purchasing/inventory experience with a preference given to those with manufacturing experience.
- Prior leadership experience would be an asset.
- Understanding of lean principles, including value-stream mapping, would be an asset.
- Ability to demonstrate flexible and efficient time management and to prioritize workload based on organization or department needs.
- Excellent planning, organizational, and communication skills with the ability to effectively manage several projects at one time.
