Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Heavy Equipment Maintenance Technician to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for the maintenance and repair of a wide range of heavy equipment used in our operations. This position offers a unique opportunity to work in a dynamic environment and contribute to the success of a vital industry.

Responsibilities

  • Perform both preventative and corrective maintenance on all Work Equipment systems, including mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic components.
  • Conduct thorough inspections, tests, and repairs or replacements in remote outdoor locations with limited resources.
  • Execute welding repairs as needed to ensure equipment functionality and safety.
  • Proactively identify and resolve equipment issues efficiently to minimize disruptions to crew productivity.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members to plan and coordinate work activities, ensuring seamless operations.
  • Maintain accurate records of equipment maintenance, time sheets, and other relevant documentation.
  • Obtain certification in CPKC safety protocols to ensure a safe and compliant work environment.

Qualifications

  • Hold a Journeyman's certificate as a Heavy-Duty Mechanic/Technician or Automotive Mechanic/Technician, or be a registered active 2nd or 3rd-year apprentice in Heavy-Duty Mechanics.
  • Demonstrate the ability to monitor gauges, instruments, and processes attentively for optimal equipment performance.
  • Possess strong problem-solving skills with sound judgment to address technical challenges effectively.
  • Exhibit excellent written and verbal communication skills to collaborate with team members and supervisors.
  • Be a dedicated team player with the flexibility to handle various tasks efficiently and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Maintain a safety-focused mindset due to the high-risk environment surrounding heavy equipment operation.
