Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Heavy Duty Equipment Technician to join our team at the Vancouver Airport Authority. As a key member of our Fleet Maintenance department, you will be responsible for the maintenance and repair of mobile and portable equipment, ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our airport facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain and repair emergency rescue and operations vehicles and equipment, including fire trucks, air stairs, and emergency response light vehicles.
  • Perform general diagnostics, mechanical overhaul, and maintenance work on a wide variety of specialized and heavy-duty equipment, such as mowers, backhoes, excavators, and road maintenance equipment.
  • Plan, schedule, and organize work area and facility, ensuring efficient use of resources and minimizing downtime.
  • Lead activities and share knowledge with assigned apprentices, promoting a culture of continuous learning and development.
Requirements
  • Three years' recent, related experience, supplemented by the completion of a Red Seal or BC Trade Qualification in Truck or Transport Mechanic (TTM) or Heavy Duty Equipment Technician (HDET).
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to work well in a team environment and independently with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to make safety a top priority.
  • Valid BC driver's license (Class 1 preferred, minimum Class 3 with air brake endorsement).
