As a Mechanical Maintenance Lead, you will play a pivotal role in fostering a safe working environment while overseeing our skilled Millwrights and external contractors. Your responsibilities will include planning, budgeting, and executing minor projects aimed at enhancing plant machinery. You will also engage in troubleshooting and seek more efficient solutions to equipment challenges. This position collaborates closely with fellow Maintenance Supervisors, Maintenance Planners, and Reliability Engineers.
Key Responsibilities
- Schedule and oversee maintenance activities as coordinated with the Maintenance Planner to ensure equipment reliability aligns with production needs.
- Supervise maintenance teams and external contractors to guarantee timely and quality completion of tasks.
- Assess employee skills and safety practices to determine necessary training for maintaining operational competencies.
- Ensure adherence to company policies, health, and safety standards during maintenance operations.
- Address urgent repairs and breakdowns to minimize operational downtime.
- Foster the development of team members, motivating staff to create a skilled and dependable workforce. Provide technical support to maintenance staff for swift problem resolution.
- Collaborate with the Maintenance Department to communicate upcoming tasks and suggest adjustments to inventory levels as needed.
- Assist in developing work schedules, equipment usage plans, and prioritizing mechanical expenditures to achieve overall operational objectives.
- Prepare estimates for materials and labor to inform project budgeting and financial planning.
- Monitor material acquisition and usage to meet productivity and budgetary targets.
- Maintain accurate records of time, work orders, materials, equipment, and other maintenance documentation.
- Participate in the on-call rotation for supervisory maintenance duties, including weekend and after-hours emergency repairs.
- Contribute to the execution of plant projects, providing insights into the mechanical aspects of design and implementation.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in mechanical repair and maintenance, preferably in a heavy industrial environment.
- Previous supervisory experience is advantageous.
- Proven ability to lead teams effectively, with or without direct authority.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Familiarity with SAP or similar systems is preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
