About the Role

This is a 12-month contract opportunity for a Senior Manager, People to join our team at Delmanor Seniors Communities.

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to lead our People and Culture function. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies to drive business results through effective talent management, labor relations, and employee engagement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Labor Relations: Provide expert guidance on all aspects of unionization and collective bargaining, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Consultation: Offer support and advice to managers on all aspects of the People and Culture lifecycle, including recruitment, onboarding, and performance management.
  • Compensation: Assist in the administration of position descriptions and pay structures, ensuring fairness and equity in compensation practices.
  • Employee Relations: Mediate conflicts, conduct workplace investigations, and provide employee support to promote a positive and inclusive work environment.
  • EDI: Contribute to the development and implementation of our Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion strategy, promoting a culture of inclusivity and respect.
  • Performance Assessment: Participate in the performance assessment process, providing feedback and guidance on performance management issues.
  • Training and Development: Identify training needs and coordinate programs to support employee growth and professional development.
  • Policy Development & Maintenance: Develop, monitor, and maintain People and Culture policies, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Compliance: Ensure that all People and Culture policies, practices, and programs are compliant with employment-related legislation.
  • People & Culture Strategy and Planning: Contribute to the development of People and Culture strategies aligned with organizational goals, analyzing metrics to inform decision-making.
  • Employee Engagement and Culture: Develop initiatives to enhance engagement and foster a positive workplace culture, promoting a culture of excellence and customer service.
  • HRIS and Reporting: Assist with the management and maintenance of our HRIS system, generating and utilizing system reports to support business needs.
Requirements
  • Post-secondary education in Human Resources Management or a related field.
  • At least 5+ years of experience in HR, with a strong background in labor relations and union negotiations.
  • Proven experience conducting full-cycle workplace investigations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and HRIS systems.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to present to groups.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent coaching and facilitation skills.
  • Understanding of strategic issues impacting the business, with strong talent development and team-building skills.
  • Ability to identify opportunities for improvement, develop strategies, and implement solutions.
  • Experience handling sensitive information with confidentiality and integrity.
