Job Title: Director of Engineering

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Engineering to lead our team of professional-level mechanical engineers and designers. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for driving the development of state-of-the-art products and ensuring that our engineering processes are efficient and effective.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership and Team Management: Set goals and objectives for team members, provide coaching and mentorship, and drive a culture of creativity, innovation, and continuous learning.
  • Product Development: Support new product development, product improvements, and manufacturing, ensuring that all products meet current regulatory requirements.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including sales, purchasing, project teams, production, and quality assurance, to ensure alignment on project scope, design control documentation, quality, and scheduling.
  • Technical Expertise: Lead design control procedures, establish and modernize the engineering process and tools, and monitor documentation maintenance throughout all phases of design.
  • Personnel Management: Select, develop, and evaluate personnel to ensure the efficiency of the team, and assist in other duties as required by the President.

Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent.
  • Experience: Minimum 5 years of professional experience in medical device product design and development, and minimum 3 years of management experience with direct reports.
  • Skills: Strong oral and written communication skills, ability to handle and troubleshoot difficult problems, and proficiency in SolidWorks and MS Office.
  • Knowledge: Deep knowledge and application of FDA, HC, and ISO 13485 Quality System Regulations, Design Controls, Good Manufacturing Practices, ISO 14971, and IEC60601.
