Position Overview:
The Acute Care Associate Physician (AP) functions as a vital support to physicians and surgeons, delivering immediate inpatient medical or surgical services within a client-centered healthcare framework. This position emphasizes collaboration within a multidisciplinary team to assess, diagnose, and manage patients experiencing acute, chronic, and intricate health conditions. The AP is also responsible for providing expert consultation in palliative care and addiction medicine. Key responsibilities include the ordering and interpretation of diagnostic tests, administration of medications, and conducting comprehensive history and physical assessments.
Qualifications:
- Must qualify for registration with the CPSBC in the Associate Physician – Acute category under NHA sponsorship.
- Legal eligibility to reside and work in British Columbia is required.
- Possession or attainment of Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification is necessary.
- Proficient in diagnosing and managing prevalent medical issues in both medical and perioperative patients.
- Experience in identifying and reacting to emergency medical situations.
- Strong communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
- Competent in utilizing computer systems for documentation and communication.
- Able to thrive in a collaborative team environment.
- Proven ability to foster relationships with healthcare professionals.
- Physical capability to perform the responsibilities associated with the role.
