Job Summary

The Safety Coordinator will be responsible for performing daily environmental, health and safety processes, including conducting hazard analyses, safe work procedures, and written reports. This role will also involve maintaining overall safe work practices and procedures, operating with authority to cease an unsafe operating procedure if witnessed or concluded following investigation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement safety policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and implement corrective actions.
  • Provide training and guidance to employees on safety procedures and protocols.
  • Investigate incidents and near-misses to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
  • Develop and maintain safety documentation, including incident reports and safety procedures.
  • Collaborate with management and employees to promote a culture of safety and wellness.
  • Stay up-to-date with changing regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
Requirements
  • Construction Safety Officer (CSO) or National Construction Safety Office (NCSO) designation.
  • Experience in a safety role or similar capacity in an industrial, mining, and construction setting.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of safety-related legislation, industry best practices, and compliance requirements.
  • Electrical background considered a strong asset.
  • Experience with safety systems and driving leading indicators.
  • Knowledge of ISNetworld and other safety-related databases considered an asset.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Well-developed organizational and administrative skills.
  • Solid independent judgment and initiative.
  • Team player with a commitment to team goals and deadlines.
