Role Responsibilities:

The Project Controls Specialist will be a key member of the Front End Planning (FEP) team, responsible for:

  • Coordinating and facilitating the Front-End Planning processes.
  • Acting as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in Value Engineering and Project Definition Rating Index (PDRI) workshops.
  • Initiating and facilitating Risk Profiling and Project Breakdown Structure development.
  • Reviewing project scopes and providing input into Basis of Estimates.
  • Preparing Risk Management plans with contributions from project team members.
  • Developing integrated project schedules using Primavera and MS Project, ensuring alignment with identified scope, risks, and budgets.
  • Establishing project budgets, contingencies, and milestones.
  • Preparing and obtaining stakeholder concurrence on the Project Execution Plan.
  • Supporting the development of Business Case Summaries.

Project Monitoring & Control:

The specialist will:

  • Maintain an updated conceptual phase schedule.
  • Load approved project plans into project control systems.
  • Conduct weekly schedule updates and cost analysis.
  • Facilitate project metrics reporting and variance analysis.
  • Monitor project risks and maintain the Risk Register.

Change Management:

Ensure adherence to approved change control processes, including:

  • Preparing change control documentation.
  • Updating project costs and schedules post-approval.
  • Maintaining project baseline integrity.

Cost & Schedule Quality:

Responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring the project schedule accurately reflects the current plan.
  • Reconciling financial and project control systems.
  • Monitoring project reports for accuracy.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

Interface with various stakeholders to ensure:

  • Accurate updates to project plans.
  • Alignment between financial systems and project controls.

Business Planning:

Set up and maintain project control budgets and assist in annual business plan development.

Purchase Order Analysis & Reporting:

Ensure proper setup of source systems to maintain budget alignment and monitor contractor performance.

Closeout Phase:

Facilitate the financial closeout process, ensuring final reconciliations are completed.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A solid understanding of engineering and science relevant to project planning and control.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • A degree in Business, Finance, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
