Role Summary

What is the opportunity?

As a key player in this position, you will oversee critical initiatives within the Global Functions Technology division, concentrating on the Risk, Compliance & Data portfolio. Your leadership will guide multiple projects that require coordination of shared resources under tight deadlines. The approach adopted will incorporate both Agile and Iterative Waterfall methodologies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Direct and manage the planning, execution, and delivery of programs to meet strategic objectives across the enterprise, ensuring that all goals are achieved within the defined time frames, scope, and budget. Collaborate with RBC business units and service partners, including external vendors.
  • Engage with Risk & Compliance Change Management and various business stakeholders. Manage programs characterized by significant value, complexity, and uncertainty, or oversee sub-programs within larger initiatives.
  • Convert project visions into comprehensive program scopes, designs, and actionable items. Ensure alignment with the overall Business & IT Architecture of the organization.
  • Develop, track, and implement project plans while ensuring timely completion of key milestones, approvals, and deliverables. Proactively address risks and issues that may arise.
  • Regularly communicate project status, milestones, achievements, risks, and budget updates in both formal and informal settings.
  • Collaborate with vendors to acquire necessary equipment and technology, ensuring that all vendor deliverables are managed effectively.
  • Maintain clear communication with all internal and external stakeholders. Provide guidance and mentorship to project managers contributing to the program.
  • Work with business partners to create and present project business cases to relevant approval committees.
  • Conduct regular risk assessments and collaborate with the Operational Risk team to develop mitigation strategies.

Qualifications

Essential Skills

  • Proven experience in managing application development programs with annual budgets ranging from $5MM to $20MM, demonstrating expertise in project scope, time, cost, and quality management within a matrix environment.
  • Strong general management capabilities, including leadership, negotiation, communication, and team-building skills. Experience in executing Agile and Iterative projects is required.
  • A minimum of 10 years of successful experience as an IT project manager, showcasing strong people management abilities.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Engineering, IT, or a related discipline.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Project and PowerPoint.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with Risk, Compliance & Data strategy initiatives.
  • Background in Financial Institutions.
  • Familiarity with PlanView and JIRA.
  • Advanced knowledge of Visio.
