Job Summary:

Croix-Rouge is seeking a highly skilled Medical Equipment Technician to join our team. As a Medical Equipment Technician, you will be responsible for inspecting, repairing, and maintaining medical equipment to ensure it is functioning properly and safely.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Inspect medical equipment to identify any defects or malfunctions and perform repairs according to manufacturer instructions.
  • Conduct routine maintenance on medical equipment to prevent breakdowns and ensure optimal performance.
  • Clean and disinfect medical equipment according to established protocols.
  • Deliver medical equipment from one storage facility to another, install and retrieve equipment at participant locations, and ensure all equipment is properly secured and accounted for.
  • Provide instruction and support to participants and their caregivers on the use and maintenance of medical equipment.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma and post-secondary education in a relevant field.
  • At least two years of experience working with manual and electrical tools, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to lift and transport equipment weighing up to 35 kg (80 lb).
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills, with experience in medical equipment repair being an asset.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience driving and delivering with commercial vehicles.
  • Completion of a first aid or CPR course within the past two years, or willingness to complete one during the probationary period.
  • Experience working with volunteers and diverse populations.

Work Environment:

  • Varied tasks: warehouse work, deliveries to various program sites, and participant locations, as well as residences for seniors.
  • Ability to stand or sit for long periods, with frequent lifting and bending.
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license in British Columbia.
  • Possibility of working at other program service points.
