About This OpportunityThe Yarmouth Regional Hospital (YRH) and Digby General Hospital (DGH) are in search of dedicated emergency medicine specialists to fulfill a 1.5 FTE position across both facilities. Situated in the southwestern region of Nova Scotia, these hospitals cater to a combined population of approximately 60,000 across three counties. The successful candidate may also engage in educational activities through the family medicine residency program based in Yarmouth and/or collaborate with medical students from Dalhousie University.

DGH, founded in 1924, provides comprehensive medical services to the local population, including primary, inpatient, restorative, and ambulatory care, as well as day surgery. The facility features a 20-bed medical and alternate level of care unit, which collaborates closely with the collaborative emergency centre in Annapolis Royal and Yarmouth. Additionally, DGH houses a 13-bed restorative care unit focused on patient rehabilitation.

- Prescribe and administer medications, treatments, inoculations, and vaccinations.
- Full-time position shared between YRH and DGH.
- Certification in Emergency Medicine from the College of Family Physicians of Canada is considered an asset.
- All applicants must be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia (CPSNS).
- Family physicians must be eligible for certification with the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC).
- Membership with the Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA) is required.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification.
- Care of the Critically Ill Surgical Patient (CCrISP) training.
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification.
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.
- Experience in an emergency department is advantageous.
