About This Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Emergency Medicine physician to join our team at Yarmouth Regional Hospital in Nova Scotia.

The successful candidate will be responsible for examining patients, ordering diagnostic tests and laboratory procedures, advising patients on healthcare, health promotion, and disease prevention, consulting and referring to other medical practitioners, acting as a patient advocate, and prescribing and administering medications and treatments.

The hospital offers a range of services, including emergency medicine, inpatient beds, outpatient programs, and satellite services. The successful candidate may also participate in teaching through the family medicine residency program based in Yarmouth and/or with medical students through Dalhousie University.

Responsibilities
  • Examine patients and order diagnostic tests and laboratory procedures
  • Advise patients on healthcare, health promotion, and disease prevention
  • Consult and refer to other medical practitioners
  • Act as a patient advocate
  • Prescribe and administer medications and treatments
Qualifications
  • College of Family Physicians of Canada Emergency Medicine certification would be considered an asset
  • Eligibility for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia
  • Membership with the Canadian Medical Protective Association
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification
  • Canadian Certified Clinical Specialist in Prehospital Care (CCrISP) certification
  • Newborn Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification
  • Emergency department experience an asset
