About This Opportunity

We are seeking an Emergency Medicine physician to provide locum coverage at Yarmouth Regional Hospital in Nova Scotia.

Located in the Town of Yarmouth, this regional hospital serves a population of approximately 60,000 in three counties. Yarmouth Regional Hospital has 120 inpatient beds and provides a range of primary and secondary services through in-patient, outpatient, and satellite programs.

Responsibilities
  • Examine patients, order diagnostic tests, and laboratory procedures.
  • Advise patients on healthcare, health promotion, and disease prevention.
  • Consult and refer to other medical practitioners.
  • Act as a patient advocate.
  • Prescribe and administer medications and treatments, inoculations, and vaccinations.
Expected Hours
  • Full-time hours are required for this locum opportunity.
Qualifications
  • College of Family Physicians of Canada Emergency Medicine certification is considered an asset.
  • All applicants must be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia (CPSNS).
  • All family physicians must be eligible for certification with the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC).
  • Membership with the Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA) is required.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS), Care of the Critically Ill Surgical Patient (CCrISP), Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and emergency department experience are considered assets.
