Position Overview

We are in search of a Senior IT Business Analyst with expertise in the SAS IFRS17 Solution and Insurance Financial Reporting. This role is integral to our FinSys team and requires a blend of technical and analytical skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist SAS IFRS17 Systems Application Architects and Developers in assessing proposed modifications to the SAS IFRS17 solution and their implications for interconnected systems.
  • Collaborate with development teams to ensure that delivered solutions align with business requirements.
  • Engage with Business Data teams, security personnel, and both internal and external audit stakeholders.
  • Analyze, articulate, and document clear Functional Requirements, System Specifications, and Non-Functional Requirements derived from Business Requirements and Architectural Solutions.
  • Conduct research and analysis to document findings using industry-standard business analysis methodologies.

Required Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in IT, with a focus on technical and functional analysis.
  • Proficiency with the SAS IFRS17 Solution.
  • Familiarity with at least one area of Insurance P&C, including underwriting, reinsurance, claims, or group benefits, as well as Insurance Accounting principles / IFRS17.
  • Knowledge of audit standards, data security protocols, and financial data governance, including regulatory compliance.
  • Experience with financial reporting, both regulatory and corporate.
  • Skills in integration and data mapping.
  • Proficient in data manipulation tools such as SQL, Excel, VBA Macros, and Power BI.
  • Strong capabilities in Gap Analysis and identifying Functional Dependencies.
  • A collaborative mindset and team-oriented approach.
  • Well-developed documentation skills for development and production support teams.
  • Solid understanding of the System Development Life Cycle.
  • Familiarity with development methodologies including Waterfall, Agile, Hybrid, SDLC, SCRUM, and Kanban.
  • Bilingualism is required for candidates located in Quebec to facilitate regular interaction with English-speaking colleagues across Canada.
  • Candidates must be eligible to work in Canada.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Basic understanding or experience with SAS language.
  • Experience with Oracle ERP Modules, EDW, or other data repository technologies for reporting.
  • Familiarity with creating SQL queries, extracts, and reports using TOAD and Fusion Reporting and Analytics Module.
  • Knowledge of Oracle FBDI and IICS REST APIs, as well as Control M job creation and scheduling.
  • Experience with Oracle Fusion and IICS.
  • Understanding of ETL processes.
  • Involvement in mid to large-scale system development projects.
  • A background in development is a significant advantage.
