Direct Support Specialist Opportunity

CBI Health Group is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Direct Support Specialist to join our team in the Newmarket area.

About the Role:

As a Direct Support Specialist, you will provide person-centered support to individuals with developmental disabilities, utilizing Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA)-based interventions in the home and community. You will work under the supervision of a Board Certified Behaviour Analyst (BCBA) and Clinical and Operational Manager, receiving comprehensive training and ongoing support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support clients with community involvement and independence to optimize their quality of life
  • Assist and teach daily living activities, and life skills to promote self-esteem and well-being
  • Document and report daily activities and progress
  • Manage challenging behaviors and situations using CPI knowledge and principles
  • Support clients with varied levels of personal care
  • Assist with household activities and chores

Requirements:

  • Certificate from a related field, such as Diploma in Behavior Science, Developmental Service Worker (DSW), or Child and Youth Worker
  • Current CPR and First Aid Certificate
  • Clear Criminal record check with Vulnerable Sector Screening
  • Valid Class G driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Proven interpersonal and organizational skills
