Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Occupational Therapist to join our team in the Inpatient Psychiatry Unit at Fraser Health. As an Occupational Therapist, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality care to patients with mental health issues.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide occupational therapy assessments, consultations, and interventions to patients to maximize function and promote independence and safety.
  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary care team to develop individual treatment goals and provide treatment and/or teaching to patients and caregivers.
  • Identify resources required for treatment and initiate requests for external funding as needed.
  • Facilitate group therapy processes and transitioning back to the community.
  • Prepare written assessments/reports and monitor and evaluate patient outcomes.
  • Role model and demonstrate occupational therapy techniques and practices to staff and students.
Requirements
  • Baccalaureate degree in Occupational Therapy.
  • One year's recent, related experience in a psychiatric setting or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Current full registration with the College of Occupational Therapists of British Columbia (COTBC).
  • Eligible for membership in the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists (CAOT-BC).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge and understanding of psychosocial aspects of mental health issues.
  • Familiarity with DSM IV criteria.
  • Knowledge of behavioural management strategies and techniques.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation, standards, and policies.
