Job Title: Research Scientist - Advanced Manufacturing

Georgian College is seeking a highly skilled Research Scientist to lead the development of real-world solutions for industry partners through applied research and knowledge transfer projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the intellectual direction of research projects and partnerships
  • Develop concepts, design, manufacture, integrate, and test prototyped solutions using technical expertise and knowledge of design and manufacturing
  • Provide deep subject matter and technical expertise for applied research projects
  • Ensure execution of applied research projects in collaboration with college faculty, staff, and industry partners
  • Manage interdisciplinary research activities and integrate different activities into a cohesive deliverable
  • Support funding and project proposal development
  • Attend meetings and present project scopes, deliverables, and metrics
  • Provide leadership for applied research projects
  • Prepare and implement dissemination activities, including assisting research assistants in preparing materials and final reports
Qualifications:
  • 4-year degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or a related field
  • Professional Engineering Designation (P.Eng) required
  • Certificates in AI, Machine Learning, and Data Analysis an asset
  • Minimum 9 years of experience in automation and mechatronics with at least 5 years of experience executing and leading industry-led research projects
  • Demonstrated experience using Solidworks, AutoCAD, and Industrial Programming platforms
  • Demonstrated research and development skills and project delivery abilities
  • Proven ability to manage a research team
  • Superior organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize projects
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to interact with various partners
