Role Overview:
As a Senior Power Systems Engineer within our Energy team, you will be responsible for a range of critical tasks:
  • Execute power system simulations utilizing CYMDIST for power flows, voltage stability, transient stability, fault contributions, and protection coordination.
  • Assess generator application documentation and analyze the effects of renewable energy generation under varying load conditions using CYMDIST software.
  • Develop comprehensive models for station and distribution systems, integrating essential data such as transformer specifications, feeder configurations, and protection mechanisms.
  • Prepare detailed estimates, draft implementation timelines, review and certify project documentation, and liaise with stakeholders throughout project execution.
  • Generate final reports summarizing project outcomes, ensuring compliance with power quality, system reliability, and operational standards.
  • Conduct grounding studies and compile related reports, including protection coordination studies and short circuit calculations.
  • Design protection and control systems for generators and network upgrades, ensuring adherence to operational requirements.
  • Perform quality assurance checks on engineering documents and packages.
  • Assist in preparing estimates and proposals for departmental bids.
  • Provide customer support and address issues related to projects, products, and processes.
Candidate Profile:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering with a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in distribution planning and analysis.
  • Proficient in generator connection impact assessments and capable of conducting load flow, fault analysis, and voltage sag studies.
  • Experienced in distribution planning, DER interconnection impacts, and protection coordination.
  • Familiarity with software tools such as ETAP, PSS/E, EMTP, ASPEN OneLiner, Siemen's CAPE, or PSCAD is advantageous.
  • Skills in T&D protection and control design, project planning, and client negotiations are beneficial.
  • Experience with CYMDIST software is essential.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are required.
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng) designation is highly preferred.
