Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Environmental Field Technician to support our ongoing projects. In this role, you will collaborate closely with Project Managers and senior field technicians on various tasks, including:
- Coordinating and managing groundwater monitoring, soil sampling, test pitting, borehole drilling, and installation of groundwater monitoring wells.
- Ensuring adherence to health and safety protocols and quality standards during all field operations and reporting.
- Assisting in the development of work plans, budgets, and schedules to ensure timely completion of deliverables.
- Supporting project management activities such as invoicing, budget tracking, and organization of project files.
- Operating and maintaining field equipment, including sampling pumps and flow meters.
- Preparing detailed reports and drawings, along with actionable recommendations based on field data.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will possess a background in engineering, geoscience, or environmental technology, with relevant experience in contaminated site investigation and remediation. Key qualifications include:
- A Bachelor's degree or college diploma in environmental technology, environmental sciences, engineering, or a related field.
- 3-5 years of experience in conducting environmental site investigations, particularly in Alberta.
- Familiarity with Alberta's environmental legislation.
- Proficiency in soil and groundwater sampling techniques.
- Experience managing subcontractors, including oversight of safety practices.
- Strong attention to detail, initiative, and excellent communication skills.
- A collaborative mindset and ability to work effectively in a team.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook).
- Willingness to conduct fieldwork in varying conditions and occasionally during non-standard hours.
