About the Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Nurse Educator to join our team at Nova Scotia Health. As a Clinical Nurse Educator, you will play a key role in the assessment, implementation, planning, evaluation, and supportive application of existing and new clinical knowledge to support the translation of knowledge to practice.

Reporting to the Simulation Manager, Interprofessional Practice and Learning, Central Zone, you will be responsible for fostering a culture of learning to build capacity and support the advancement of professional practice through the implementation of orientation and ongoing education programs that integrate a learner-centered approach.

You will provide advice, consultation, and support to advance practice, and to maintain and develop evidence-based standards of care, to optimize patient outcomes within the interprofessional care team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess, implement, plan, evaluate, and support the application of existing and new clinical knowledge to support the translation of knowledge to practice.
  • Foster a culture of learning to build capacity and support the advancement of professional practice through the implementation of orientation and ongoing education programs.
  • Provide advice, consultation, and support to advance practice, and to maintain and develop evidence-based standards of care, to optimize patient outcomes within the interprofessional care team.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to design, implement, and evaluate education programs that integrate a learner-centered approach.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with academic institutions, regulatory bodies, and government agencies to advance the field of nursing education.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Nursing/Bachelor of Science in Nursing required.
  • Master of Nursing/Health Care/Education preferred.
  • Active practicing license in good standing with NSCN required.
  • A minimum of three years full-time clinical experience within the last five years facilitating Simulation-Based Learning required.
  • Experience in Simulation-Based Learning and Teaching preferred.
  • Relevant CNA/other specialty certification required or willingness to complete.
  • BLS-C (HCP) certification required.
  • BLS-C (HCP) and/or ALS/ACLS instructor certification with Canada Heart and Stroke/American Heart Association preferred.
  • Diploma or certificate in adult education an asset.
  • Leadership Development Education an asset.
  • Previous teaching experience which involves designing, implementing, and evaluating both traditional and non-traditional methods of instruction preferred.
  • Recent experience as a Clinical Nurse Educator/Nursing Instructor preferred.
  • Physical demands - setting up rooms, walking and standing, movement of educational resources/tools with facilities and across sites.
