Job Title: Deputy Director

Employment and Social Development Canada is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Deputy Director to join our team. As a Deputy Director, you will play a key role in shaping the direction and success of our organization, requiring a combination of strategic vision, leadership skills, and operational expertise.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide strategic advice and recommendations to senior officials on sensitive and complex policy and program issues.
  • Set strategic direction and provide leadership in operational service delivery or development of policies and programs that have an organization-wide impact.
  • Build and manage partnerships, and consult and negotiate with other levels of government, industry, and national or international organizations.
  • Manage human and financial resources, including planning, directing, and coordinating activities related to recruitment, performance, talent management, and learning and development of employees.
Requirements:
  • Significant experience in providing strategic advice and recommendations to senior officials on sensitive and complex policy and program issues.
  • Significant experience in setting strategic direction and providing leadership in operational service delivery or development of policies and programs that have an organization-wide impact.
  • Significant experience in building and managing partnerships, and consulting and negotiating with other levels of government, industry, and national or international organizations.
  • Significant experience in managing human and financial resources, including planning, directing, and coordinating activities related to recruitment, performance, talent management, and learning and development of employees.
Working Conditions:

The selected candidate will be required to work in a fast-paced environment and will be expected to travel domestically and internationally. The candidate must be a Canadian citizen and eligible for a Top Secret security clearance.
