About the Role

Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital is a leading pediatric rehabilitation hospital, renowned for its expertise in partnering with clients and families to provide exceptional care. As a Registered Respiratory Therapist, you will play a vital role in our interdisciplinary team, working with clients and families to achieve the most meaningful and healthy futures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide respiratory care to clients, suggesting interventions to maximize their care
  • Present in-services and provide education for staff, clients, and families
  • Collaborate effectively with the interdisciplinary team
  • Ensure duties are completed and documented as necessary
  • Respond to STAT calls and demonstrate therapeutic relationships with clients and caregivers
  • Follow direction of and make suggestions for improvement to policies and procedures
  • Identify and resolve equipment problems or potential equipment problems, evaluate and test new equipment
  • Identify and implement mechanisms of professional growth through continuing education
  • Perform other duties as assigned, including regular on-call duties

Qualifications

  • Current licensure with the College of Respiratory Therapists of Ontario
  • Membership in C.S.R.T. and/or R.T.S.O. is preferred
  • Current BCLS certificate – Basic Rescuer
  • Experience in critical care, respiratory rehab, and complex continuing care
  • Experience with children with neuromuscular conditions (e.g. DMD) is preferred
  • Experience in chronic respiratory care/rehab is an asset
  • Demonstrated written and verbal English language skills required
  • Demonstrated ability to deal with a changing environment and client population
  • Proven ability to independently take initiative and function effectively as a contributing member of an interdisciplinary team
