Join Our Team as a Respiratory Therapist Specialist

We are currently seeking a skilled and dedicated Respiratory Therapist to join our dynamic team at North York General Hospital (NYGH). This is an exciting opportunity for a registered respiratory therapist to promote patient and family-centered care while working in a collaborative environment.

Job Overview:

This full-time regular position involves providing high-quality respiratory care to patients, families, and healthcare teams. As a key member of our interdisciplinary team, you will work closely with physicians, staff, and volunteers to deliver exceptional patient care.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide ventilation management, weaning, and discontinuation services to adult, pediatric, and newborn patients
  • Participate in Code Teams and Critical Care Response Teams to ensure timely and effective response to critical situations
  • Administer pharmaceutical substances and perform diagnostic tests, including arterial blood gas analysis and bronchoscopies
  • Supervise, teach, and evaluate students as assigned by the clinical coordinator
  • Educate patients, families, caregivers, and healthcare professionals in respiratory care
Qualifications:

To be successful in this role, you must possess the following qualifications:

  • Diploma or degree in respiratory therapy from an accredited institution
  • Registration with the College of Respiratory Therapists of Ontario
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications
  • Current Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
  • Experience in adult intubation and radial arterial line insertion, with neonatal intubation experience preferred
What We Offer:

We offer a highly competitive total compensation package, including pay in lieu of benefits, vacation pay, and the opportunity to join the hospital pension plan. This is a full-time regular position with 12-hour shifts, days, and nights, including weekends in the Medicine/Respirology Unit.

Please note that the estimated salary for this position is between $85,000 and $110,000 per annum, depending on experience and qualifications.
