Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre is seeking a highly skilled Respiratory Therapist to join our team.

Job Summary

The Respiratory Therapist will work in an interprofessional model of care, determining the best mode of oxygenation/ventilation delivery for individual patient needs. This includes monitoring and assessing ventilation in the neonatal population, as well as assessing, initiating, and maintaining airway management.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor and assess ventilation in the neonatal population, including transcutaneous and saturation monitoring, capillary and arterial blood sampling.
  • Assess, initiate, and maintain airway management, including intubation.
  • Attend all neonatal resuscitations and high-risk deliveries as requested.
  • Provide education and supervision to students, including respiratory therapy students and students from the interprofessional team.
Qualifications
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist certification by the College of Respiratory Therapy of Ontario (or graduate license).
  • Graduate from an accredited institute of Respiratory Therapy.
  • Previous experience caring for neonatal patients preferred.
  • Thoroughly familiar with and competent in all aspects of Respiratory Therapy.
  • Demonstrated clinical and technical ability.
  • Mature, independent, and self-motivated.
  • Demonstrated ability to integrate and apply critical thinking skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle stressful environments.
  • Proven ability to work well in a team environment.
  • Current NRP and BCLS required.
