Position Overview: Health and Safety Field Consultant

The Health and Safety Field Consultant role is primarily focused on providing expert guidance and support to clients in the field. This position involves delivering tailored advice, field assistance, and documentation to clients within the Ottawa region as part of Peninsula's comprehensive Health and Safety Essentials program. The role operates on a standard schedule from Monday to Friday, with core hours from 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM, although flexibility may be required based on client demands. Successful candidates may have opportunities for career advancement.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. In-depth understanding of the Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act.
  2. Proactively engaging with clients to follow up on provided advice, solutions, and support.
  3. Conducting site visits to assess client needs.
  4. Delivering accurate and effective advice, support, and solutions to clients in a professional manner.
  5. Acting as a liaison with government representatives and other stakeholders on behalf of clients, under the guidance of Peninsula's management.
  6. Completing internal documentation following client interactions.
  7. Reviewing and interpreting client policies and related documents to offer relevant advice and recommendations.
  8. Guiding clients on the utilization of Peninsula's health and safety management system.
  9. Meeting internal performance metrics.

Qualifications:

A degree, diploma, or certification from a recognized educational institution or health and safety training program is required. A solid understanding of the Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act is essential, along with a minimum of 5 years of pertinent experience in the health and safety sector.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Capability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively within a team.
  • Exceptional time management and organizational skills.
  • Experience interacting with government regulatory agencies.
  • High proficiency in computer applications.
  • Possession of a Class G Driver's license.
