Your Opportunity:

In a dynamic healthcare setting, the Rehabilitation Therapist I plays a crucial role in delivering thorough evaluations, consultations, and treatment plans for patients across various healthcare programs. This position entails performing therapeutic lifts and transfers, as well as providing essential physical support during rehabilitation sessions. You will work closely with a multidisciplinary team to ensure effective patient care and appropriate discharge planning. This role may involve supporting multiple departments within the healthcare facility, including but not limited to surgery, orthopedics, and general medicine. The rehabilitation department is committed to offering exceptional patient-centered care through continuous education, mentorship, and the application of evidence-based practices.

Description:

As a Rehabilitation Therapist I, your primary responsibility will be to implement therapeutic interventions that empower clients to attain optimal physical functionality and independence, addressing a range of conditions including developmental issues, chronic illnesses, and functional decline. Your interventions will encompass prevention, triage, screening, assessment, diagnosis, goal setting, treatment, management, education, consultation, and case management, involving individuals, groups, and communities. Engaging clients and their families as vital members of the healthcare team is essential, fostering their active involvement in all care aspects. You will collaborate with patients and families to identify, execute, and assess suitable rehabilitation strategies.

Additionally, you will participate in various interprofessional teams aimed at enhancing awareness, improving support systems, and engaging in quality enhancement initiatives. This includes partnerships with healthcare providers, patients, families, and other stakeholders to advance client services. Your contributions will extend to quality improvement efforts within the professional community, including peer mentoring and supervision of students. Clinical supervision may also be provided to Therapy Assistants and Provisional Rehabilitation Therapists.

Required Qualifications:

A Bachelor's degree in Physiotherapy from an accredited institution is mandatory. Current registration with the relevant professional regulatory body is essential.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Certification in Heart and Stroke CPR (BLS-HCP) is required. Experience in acute care settings is necessary, along with demonstrated strong clinical reasoning skills. Experience in a collaborative interdisciplinary environment is also required.

Preferred Qualifications:

A Master's Degree (or an equivalent combination of education and experience) in Physical Therapy from a recognized institution is preferred.
