Role Overview:
Are you an experienced insurance professional seeking a new opportunity? Join our dynamic team of claims specialists and contribute to the growth of our esteemed Canadian operations.
We are in search of a proactive Liability Claims Adjuster to enhance our Auto and General Liability services, possessing a solid understanding of Auto Property Damage and Liability claims.
In this position, you will play a vital role in expanding our business in Canada. You will manage a diverse range of in-house claims, particularly from large corporate clients, with an initial focus on Automobile and General Liability.
Your responsibilities will include reviewing reports from independent adjusters, legal representatives, and experts to determine coverage, assess damages, and refer to company guidelines and policy coverage.
Your primary goal will be to achieve prompt and cost-effective settlements within established authority limits.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough analysis, investigation, evaluation, negotiation, and settlement of claims to ascertain coverage and resolution.
- Set appropriate reserves for indemnity and expenses, regularly reviewing them for adequacy and making recommendations for claims exceeding authority limits.
- Identify and communicate specific claim trends and policy issues to management, underwriting, and risk services, preparing detailed reports as necessary.
- Proactively manage the claims resolution process, participating in market meetings, mediations, arbitrations, and negotiations within settlement authority limits.
- Support claims marketing efforts by engaging with brokers, risk managers, and reinsurers.
- Prepare and facilitate claim reviews with clients.
- Oversee claims managed by Independent Adjusters to ensure adherence to Liberty Mutual quality standards.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or advanced diploma (relevant experience may substitute for education).
- A minimum of 2-3 years of experience in claims handling, particularly in auto and general liability.
- Preference will be given to candidates with a completed CIP (Chartered Insurance Professional) designation or those actively pursuing it.
- Comprehensive knowledge of claims handling principles, practices, and techniques, including coverage issues and product line expertise.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- Intermediate analytical, decision-making, and negotiation skills.
- Willingness to travel approximately 20% within Ontario.
