Key Responsibilities:
- Evaluating, approving, and rejecting moderate to complex new business applications within designated underwriting limits.
- Reassessing and negotiating policy renewals and endorsements.
- Coordinating inspections, financial assessments, or other underwriting data to inform your evaluation of significant risk factors and decision-making processes.
- Engaging in negotiations regarding risk acceptance terms with brokers through various communication methods.
- Participating in production discussions with brokerage firms as necessary.
- Offering technical assistance to brokers.
- Actively engaging in weekly internal production discussions.
- Guiding and mentoring less experienced team members.
- Contributing to the profitable expansion of the business by identifying key factors that enhance risk profitability while demonstrating the ability to effectively engage, influence, and negotiate to meet broker expectations.
- Showcasing extensive market knowledge and industry visibility as a respected collaborator capable of partnering with brokers to cultivate a profitable business portfolio.
- Making informed underwriting and pricing decisions on individual risks while considering the broader context of a broker's portfolio.
- Being responsible for the accurate selection and rating of mid-market property insurance transactions (e.g., applications, endorsements, renewals, cancellations, voids, reinstatements, etc.).
Qualifications:
- A university degree, college diploma, or CIP designation is mandatory.
- A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in Commercial Property and Casualty underwriting is required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel is essential.
- A professional, friendly, and courteous demeanor in all interactions with customers and colleagues.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while maintaining composure under pressure.
- A collaborative team player who can adapt to changing circumstances.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong problem-solving capabilities.
- A solid sales orientation.
- Proven ability to foster and maintain positive relationships with brokers.
Salary Range: $48,700 - $89,800
