Regional Property Underwriting Specialist

What can you expect in this role?
- Evaluating, approving, and rejecting moderate to intricate new business proposals, within designated underwriting authority.
- Re-assessing and negotiating renewals and policy modifications.
- Requesting inspections, financial documentation, or other underwriting data for your analysis of significant risk factors and decision-making.
- Discussing the terms and conditions of risk acceptance with brokers through written communication, phone calls, emails, or face-to-face meetings.
- Engaging in production discussions with brokerage firms, as necessary.
- Offering technical assistance to brokers.
- Actively contributing to weekly internal production discussions.
- Guiding and providing technical support to junior team members.
- Aiding in the profitable expansion of the business by identifying key elements that influence the profitability of a risk while showcasing the ability to constructively engage, influence, and negotiate to surpass broker expectations.
- Exhibiting strong market awareness and presence in the industry as a respected collaborator capable of partnering with brokers to cultivate a profitable business portfolio.
- Making underwriting and pricing determinations on individual risks, as well as underwriting the specific risk within the context of a broker's wider business portfolio.
- Being responsible for the selection and accurate rating of mid-market property insurance transaction types (e.g., applications, endorsements, renewals, cancellations, voids, reinstatements, etc.).
What do you bring to the role?
- A university degree or a college diploma or the CIP designation is essential.
- A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in Commercial Property and Casualty underwriting.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Professional, approachable, and courteous in all interactions with both clients and colleagues.
- Performs effectively in a fast-paced environment and maintains composure under pressure.
- A team player who is adaptable to a dynamic environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong problem-solving capabilities.
- A solid sales orientation.
- Proven ability to establish and sustain positive broker relationships.
Salary Range: $48,700 - $89,800
