We are seeking a highly skilled Regional Property Underwriter to join our team at Definity. As a key member of our underwriting team, you will be responsible for assessing, accepting, and declining new business submissions, as well as re-underwriting and negotiating renewals and policy endorsements.
Key Responsibilities- Assess and evaluate new business submissions to determine risk and potential profitability
- Re-underwrite and negotiate renewals and policy endorsements to ensure optimal risk management
- Order and analyze underwriting information, including inspections and financial reports, to inform decision-making
- Negotiate terms and conditions of risk acceptance with brokers
- Participate in production calls and provide technical support to brokers
- Mentor and support less experienced team members
- Contribute to the profitable growth of the business by identifying factors that contribute to profitability and negotiating to exceed broker needs and expectations
- University degree or college diploma or CIP designation
- Minimum 3-5 years commercial property and casualty underwriting experience
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
- Professional, friendly, and courteous in all interactions
- Ability to perform well in a busy environment and remain calm under pressure
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong problem-solving abilities
- Strong sales orientation
- Proven ability to develop and maintain positive broker relations
