The Senior Production Planner offers specialized knowledge in various aspects of production scheduling. This role within the Design Build sector is focused on creating effective capacity and logistics plans for both Project and Production management teams. Responsibilities include conducting analyses to support the development of program build strategies. This involves generating and scheduling standard Blocks, Modules, and Grand Blocks based on the available capacity of workshops and major equipment.

Key Responsibilities

Conducts planning and analysis to support the formulation of program build strategies. Develops movement plans that align with the significant transitions of Blocks, Grand Blocks, and Modules throughout the construction phases. Prepares duration estimates and labor requirements for standard Blocks, Modules, and Grand Blocks to inform future project planning and business development initiatives. Engages in lean design and design for production (DFP) initiatives, including the development of standards and training materials. Executes design for production assessments and material/process analyses for new shipbuilding projects. Analyzes production processes to develop, implement, and enhance both new and existing production methodologies. Monitors advancements in the industry and supplier developments to identify and integrate new materials, components, fabrication, and assembly techniques to enhance overall ship design and construction. Provides mentorship and technical support, fostering team capabilities through training and development of team members. Collaborates with the lifting and turning team to ensure that steelwork and early outfit can be maneuvered as necessary according to the plan. Works closely with the Estimating department to ensure that the budget allocations for Blocks, Grand Blocks, and Modules align with the breakdown provided by the Detail Planning department. Performs additional tasks as required.

Qualifications

Diploma or Technical certification in Trades or Engineering, or a comparable combination of education and experience. A Bachelor's degree is preferred. 4-6 years of experience in planning and production control, preferably within the shipbuilding sector. Proficient in utilizing ERP software tools for material and inventory planning, with a preference for IFS. Comprehensive understanding of contemporary ship design and production processes. Familiarity with shipbuilding strategy concepts, manufacturing processes, and techniques. Knowledge of planning, scheduling, and resource management principles and practices. Technical proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints. Strong organizational skills with the ability to maintain order under pressure and in dynamic environments. Proficient in Ship Constructor and AutoCAD software, as well as document control systems and databases. Capability to develop workups for budget allocation. Attention to detail while maintaining a focus on overarching goals. Strong problem-solving and critical thinking abilities to enhance production processes. Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Project, Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint). Effective time management skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously. Ability to independently create schedules. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to clearly convey rules and procedures.

The estimated salary for this position ranges from $90,000 to $110,000, with final salary determined by various factors including the candidate's skills, experience, and internal equity considerations.
