The Senior Production Planner offers specialized knowledge in various aspects of production scheduling. This role within the Design Build team is essential for developing capacity and logistics plans for both Project and Production management. The Planner is accountable for conducting analyses that support the evolution of program build strategies. This includes formulating and scheduling standard Blocks, Modules, and Grand Blocks based on the available capacity of production facilities and key equipment.

Key Responsibilities

Conducts planning and analysis to bolster program build strategy formulation. Develops logistical plans that align with the major movements of Blocks, Grand Blocks, and Modules throughout the construction phases. Establishes standard durations and labor requirements for Blocks, Modules, and Grand Blocks to inform future project planning and business development initiatives. Engages in lean design and design for production (DFP) initiatives, including the creation of standards and training materials. Conducts studies on production design and material/process analysis for new ship construction. Analyzes production processes to enhance, implement, and optimize existing and new methodologies. Monitors advancements in the industry and supplier developments to integrate new materials, components, and fabrication techniques into Shipyards, thereby enhancing overall ship design and construction. Provides mentorship and technical support, fostering team development through training and knowledge sharing. Collaborates with the lifting and turning team to ensure the efficient movement and positioning of steelwork and early outfit in accordance with the established plan. Works closely with the Estimating department to ensure budget allocations for Blocks, Grand Blocks, and Modules align with the expectations set by the Detail Planning department. Undertakes additional responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

Diploma or Technical certification in Trades or Engineering, or a comparable combination of education and experience. A Bachelor's degree is advantageous. 4-6 years of experience in planning and production control, preferably within the shipbuilding sector. Proficient in utilizing ERP software tools for material and inventory management, with IFS being preferred. Familiarity with contemporary ship design and production methodologies. Understanding of shipbuilding strategic concepts, manufacturing processes, and techniques. Knowledge of planning, scheduling, and resource management principles and practices. Technical proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints. Strong organizational skills with the ability to maintain order in high-pressure and dynamic environments. Proficient in Ship Constructor and AutoCAD software, as well as document control systems and databases. Capability to develop workups for budget allocation. Attention to detail while maintaining a focus on overarching objectives. Strong problem-solving and critical thinking abilities to enhance production processes. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Project, Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint). Effective time management skills and the ability to juggle multiple tasks simultaneously. Ability to independently create schedules. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to convey rules and procedures effectively.

The estimated salary for this position ranges from $90,000 to $110,000, with final offers determined by the candidate's skills, experience, and internal equity considerations.
