Job Summary
Vancouver Coastal Health is seeking a highly skilled Assistant Shift Engineer - Second Class to join the Power Plant team at Vancouver General Hospital. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for operating, repairing, and maintaining a high-pressure, high-temperature primary combined cycle power plant.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain a high-pressure (600psig+) and high-temperature (750 F Superheat) primary combined cycle power plant, ensuring compliance with the Boiler and Pressure Vessel Safety Act and Regulations.
- Provide work direction to Assistant Shift Engineers, coordinating work activities, providing guidance, technical advice, training, and orientation.
Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will require:
- Grade 12 plus five years' recent related experience in a first-class industrial plant.
- Second (2nd) Class Power Engineer's Certificate of Competency.
Requirements
You will need to possess:
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
- Ability to deal with others effectively.
- Ability to read and interpret single-line drawings.
- Ability to organize work.
- Ability to operate related equipment.
