Job Summary

Vancouver Coastal Health is seeking an Assistant Shift Engineer - Second Class to join the Power Plant team at Vancouver General Hospital. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for operating, repairing, and maintaining a high-pressure, high-temperature primary combined cycle power plant.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain boilers, feed water pumps, turbines, power distribution centers, and related auxiliary equipment.
  • Provide work direction to Assistant Shift Engineers, coordinating work activities and providing guidance and technical advice.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Grade 12 plus five years' recent related experience in a first-class industrial plant.
  • Second (2nd) Class Power Engineer's Certificate of Competency.

Knowledge & Abilities

  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
  • Ability to deal with others effectively.
  • Ability to read and interpret single-line drawings.
  • Ability to organize work.
  • Ability to operate related equipment.
