About the RoleThe Student Loans and Awards Officer will be responsible for promoting and supporting the university's strategic plan by connecting students with government aid, entrance awards, and scholarships. This role requires strong analytical and interpersonal skills to review student cases and propose solutions to resolve any issues that may arise.
Key Responsibilities- Design and implement programs to assist students in obtaining and managing their resources throughout their post-secondary career.
- Develop and administer aid and award programs in partnership with multiple stakeholders and external agencies.
- Analyze and determine the most appropriate financial assistance options available to students.
- Interview students to assess and evaluate their financial situations and provide customized strategies to help them overcome financial obstacles.
- Adjudicate applications and determine students' eligibility for aid and awards based on mathematical need calculations, merit, and non-merit-based criteria.
- Monitor payments and overpayments and determine student eligibility for government and university aid and awards.
- Provide confidential advice to students regarding aid and award eligibility, as well as course and program requirements.
- Maintain accurate and complete records for all students who applied for or received aid and awards.
- Minimum two-year post-secondary credential in Business, International Business, International Relations, Office Administration, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
- Minimum three years' experience working in a Registrar department or similar, with demonstrated knowledge of education systems and credential assessment.
- Excellent communication, organization, and analytical skills.
- Ability to work independently and within a team, with minimal supervision.
- Proficient in Microsoft applications, with advanced Excel skills preferred.
