Position Overview: The Manitoba Métis Federation (MMF) is the recognized National Government representing the Red River Métis, a unique Indigenous Nation and People in Canada.

The MMF is looking to hire one full-time Métis Community Resource Worker for our Métis Community Resource Department. This role is based at the MMF Thompson Regional Office and is essential for enhancing community services and resources through proactive outreach efforts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement community outreach strategies to improve service delivery and resource accessibility;
  • Support clients in navigating processes related to foster/adoption home appeals, income security, guardianship, housing, and educational opportunities;
  • Conduct follow-ups with clients and maintain comprehensive client records;
  • Assess community needs and identify relevant resources;
  • Maintain an updated directory of resources and evaluate their effectiveness;
  • Establish and manage referral processes;
  • Perform thorough intake assessments and maintain accurate documentation;
  • Organize and lead fundraising initiatives;
  • Facilitate community meetings, outreach activities, and workshops.

Required Qualifications:

  • A diploma in Child and Family Services or Community Development is preferred;
  • At least two years of experience in social services or community development;
  • Familiarity with relevant legislation such as the Child and Family Services Act and Employment and Income Assistance;
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and writing abilities;
  • Proficient in computer and technical skills;
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team;
  • Experience in arranging and facilitating meetings;
  • Understanding of Métis issues and socio-economic challenges faced by Métis Citizens;
  • Knowledge of Red River Métis culture and MMF programs is an asset;
  • Willingness to travel, with a valid Manitoba Driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle.
